Coach's Stats

Experience 

I am currently in my 26th year of teaching Physical Education. I taught 25 years in the Douglas County School System at Arbor Station Elementary.  I am excited to begin a new journey at Peeples Elementary. I look forward to working with the students, parents and faculty.

  • BS in Physical Education & Health from West George College (1995) 

  • MS in Early Childhood from Piedmont College (2001) 

  • EDS in Curriculum & Planning from Piedmont College (2014) 

 

Professional Accomplishments:  

  • AJC Celebrating Teachers nominee:  2018

  • AJC Top 10 Celebrating Teachers Recipient:  2017 

  • Teacher of the Year:  2001 Arbor Station Elementary Teacher of the Year; 2001 Douglas County Elementary Teacher of the Year 

  • Cops Fun Run Champs (most medals won):  20 out of 21 years (1995 – 2015) 

  • Chair Person Bear Run: Hosted annual community road race for families to raise funds for the physical education program. (1997 – present) 

  • J-Day Run Champs (most participation):  4 out of 5 years (2008 – 2011) 

  • PET/Foundation Run Champs:  (2013 – 2018) 

  • Moonlight Run: Directed and organized the one-mile run (2010 – 2019) 

  • PET Run Race Committee:  Directed and organized race course and race day events.  PET Run has raises to give back to the Douglas County teachers in classroom grants. (2015 – 2020) 

  • Chair Person for Community Track Construction:  Raised over $115,000 with the support of Arbor Station students and parents. We were the recipient of many grants from local government and businesses. The community track, well, and irrigation system were installed in 2011. (2004 – 2011) 

  • PTSO:  Assisted PTSO in fund raising to improve school grounds for the students.  (2001 – 2020) 

  • Jump Rope for Heart Coordinator:  (1996 – 2001; 2014 – 2020) 

  • Partner with Douglas County Road Runners:  Received donations to support the Douglas County Road Runner program, and helped purchase a trailer and race equipment needs. (2010 – 2020) 

  • Road Runner Coach:  Road Runners is a Douglas County elementary and middle school after school running club provided by local elementary and middle school volunteer coaches. The purpose of the program is to promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles, to provide a running enrichment program for children that offers the opportunity to improve running knowledge and skills, to participate in running events, and to meet other students in the school and the community.  The program is also designed to build self-esteem by giving children a feeling of success when they finish a race and to challenge them to improve their personal run times for future events. I have volunteered coached and annually have 160 students from my school participate as part of the 2,000 members of the Douglas County Road Runners. (1996 – 2020)
